Ads with movement
A growing trend among online banner and display ad campaigns is the use of innovative, high-quality GIFs known as cinemagraphs.
More than a photo, but note quite a video, cinemagraphs are still photographs in which a subtle and repeated movement occurs, giving the illusion that you’re watching a video. They were created by graphic designer Kevin Burg and photographer Jamie Beck, who first used the technology to animate their fashion and news photographs for New York Fashion Week in 2011.
Cinemagraphs are perfect for social media media platforms like Twitter and Tumblr, where content is continually reshared and retweeted. Big names like Coca-Cola, Tiffany & Co, Gilt, Citroen and more are posting cinemagraphs to promote their brands.
