Social media is KEY when it comes to marketing. To make sure you utilize this tool to achieve maximum exposure in the social media market, watch out for these social media marketing mistakes. Not targeting your audience is the first “no-no???. Your followers will only share or read what is interesting to them. This means that there should be a focus on studying what your audience likes in order to keep them engaged. Having multiple unrelated topics is another mistake. Create a strategy that focuses on three to five topics at the maximum. Your followers know what they want. If you can share content that is consistent and relatable they will be more likely to stay interested and interact with your posts. Social media is not a billboard or a 30-second ad spot in the Super Bowl. What this means is that this tool should not be used solely to promote a business. It can and should be used to: gain customer insights, increase brand awareness, increase customer retention, engage with your audience, and build relationships with your customers. Another #mistake is found with the excessive use of hashtags. This strategy has been revolutionizing the world of social media. You should be using hashtags, but not overusing them (#dontbearookie). One of the biggest mistakes a lot of businesses make is not proofreading their content. If customers find typos in a Tweet that only allows 125 characters, the content, and maybe even the business itself, will most likely be shunned.
