Old Phashioned Photoshop
Did you know that people have been doctoring photos long before the days of Photoshop?
Faking It: Manipulated Photography Before Photoshop, a new exhibition at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, explores the evolution of pre-digital photo manipulation the 1840s through the early 1990s. The show contains over 200 photographs that were altered using a variety of techniques including multiple exposures, combination printing, photomontage, overpainting, and retouching of negatives or print.
Sponsored by Adobe, creators of Photoshop, the exhibit reveals photography’s complex and ever-changing relationship with visual truth.
